Bubblegrunge

I’m at work with no work to do. Got on Spotify and found a mix suggested for me called Bubblegrunge. I guess that’s means grungy but bubbly? I hadn’t heard that term before. I like it when a name is coined for music that melds categories, like psychobilly.

I have been listening to the mix while playing games on my phone and zoning out. The music tends toward droning with repetitive, rhythmic guitar and singing. I realize that I’m almost in a trance. It’s triggering my ASMR receptors. I almost feel drunk.

I am reading about autism, ADHD, and alcoholism. I’m thinking about my parents. My dad was an alcoholic and was severely withdrawn. I wonder why I didn’t develop substance abuse issues.

I preferred being in a music trance, but work snapped me out of it.
